IYSA – Josh Rural. Supporting Football for children and youth in villages.

Dear friends,                                                                                                                                                                                1 January 2022

At the end 2020, IYSA started the Josh Rural project; supporting children and youth playing football in villages. With the support of individual donors and a corporate donor, we supported 5 villages and 250 boys and girls. Link to Annual Report 2020-21

However, for IYSA supporting football in rural areas was not a new program. IYSA had been running the Josh Football Academy for mainly Government school boys in Delhi since the year 2010 and part of the work we did with our partner, Arsenal Community was to organize football camps for village children and youth. From 2015-2020 we ran short camps in villages. https://www.indiayouthsoccer.com/rural-camps/

However, since the closure of the Academy in 2020 due to Covid and construction of a school building we were able to focus on a rural project and supported boys and girls at many of the camp locations.

In 2021-22 we continued our support and from September 2021 to end December 2021, we have been travelling to villages and have supported 285 boys and girls and their coaches in 6 villages / small towns with kit, footballs, equipment and coaching. Some pictures of the players are below. (This is in addition to the above 5 villages – 250 players in 2020-21).

We are looking to repeat and support more villages in 2022.

Most village boys and girls don’t have access to much equipment. They share 2-3 footballs among 20-30 players. A pitch and goal post are a pair of shoes when it should be marked out with cones and mini goals.

IYSA can grow the ‘Josh Rural’ project with your support and from corporates, foundations and individuals. It will allow us to support football in more villages teams, small towns and small schools.

IYSA requests a donation to support these children and youth. A donation can also be made online via IYSA website via credit / debit card, net banking, wallets, etc.

Donations in India are entitled to benefit under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (50% tax-deductible).

We count on your encouragement and would appreciate you forwarding this request to others.

Thanking you.
