Hurricanes stop Atoms at Championship point.

10 Febuary, 2002 (Round - 12)

It was the game everyone was waiting for. The top of the table clash between the Ten Hurricanes and the Mighty Atoms was going to go a long way to decide the Champions of the first Mini Soccer League. The Atoms were a point from the title and looking to wrap it up, but the Hurricanes had other ideas. The game kicked off at a frenetic pace and Ledlie scored to give the Hurricanes an early lead.

On the ball: Ledlie scored 5 against the atoms.

It didn't last long though and Aditya Kapur equalized. But Ledlie was having a blinder and ran through the Atoms defence scoring almost at will. The Hurricanes went into a five one lead before Kapur reduced gap with a right foot shot when he was left unmarked in the box. It set up the Atoms for a comeback but it instead went the other way as the Hurricanes scored three more winning comfortably 8-2 in the end. Nikhil with 5 goals led the way for the Hurricanes and he was supported by Vidur Bharatram with one and Shivraj Bhasin with two.

Earlier, Red Hot Suns won a game 2-0 that was controlled by the Little Ninjas for long periods, but they failed to capitalize on their domination and a determined overlapping run and shot by the Suns full back Zorawer Singh put them in the lead. And when brother Sahib put them further ahead it was all over for the Ninjas.

The Tigers won a game against the much improved, Super Cubs 2-1. Karan Keswani and Ishaan Khosla were the scorers and who else but Shaunak Kumar scored for the Cubs.

The 'unlucky' Strikers lost to the Happy Hawks. Palash Joshi had a goal disallowed for offside and the hawks took advantage of that as Imaad Lallje scored. Arjun Dutt pulled it level but Sidharth Thomas got a goal in the dying minutes to give the Hawks a 2-1 win.

So another super performance by the Hurricanes keeps the league title in their reach. But as they say in Tennis it's still "Advantage Atoms".
