Big kick-off for the little leaguer’s.

11 November 2001 (Round 1)

The IYSA, Whirlpool sponsored, Mini Soccer League kicked off this Sunday in Delhi. It’s the first of its kind in India. The league is for children 10 years and under, and consists of 8 squads. Each squad plays the others twice, and the league will run until end February 2001.


Get, set, go. The tigers get ready to kickoff

The Lightning Strikers and the Little Ninjas kicked off the Mini League. Karan Dev Verman scored for the Strikers but Siddharth Khanna scored twice to give the Ninjas a 2–1 win.

In the second game of the day, the Mighty Atoms beat the Happy Hawks 2-1. Sagar Agarwal and Aditya Kapur scored for the Atoms while Imaad Lalljee got a goal back for the Hawks.

2-1 score-lines seem to be the order of the day, as the Red Hot Suns beat the Super Cubs. Shaunak Kumar scored for the Cubs. Sahib Singh scored for the Suns and Gautam Anand got their winner.

The biggest victory was reserved for the last game of the day as the Ten Hurricanes were swept aside by the Team Tigers 10-1. Sanjan Sabherwal scored 7 times and Ishaan Khosla hit a hat trick himself. Uday Vir Singh got the only goal for the Hurricanes.
